“Yesterday, the Senate passed a reckless reconciliation bill that would be a devastating blow to New York’s economy and a clean energy future. The bill would abruptly end clean energy tax credits that our solar and wind industries have already factored into their projects. For the economy to continue to grow, more energy is needed and clean energy is the cheapest and fastest that can come online. If this bill is passed, it will mean higher electricity costs and the loss of tens of thousands of jobs for New Yorkers. We thank Senators Schumer and Gillibrand for voting against this bill. We also commend Representative Garbarino for reducing the damage to the clean energy provisions during negotiations and Representatives Lalota and Lawler for speaking out in favor of the clean energy tax credits. We call upon the entire New York congressional delegation to reject this bill unless these credits are fully restored so that New York can produce reliable, affordable, clean energy and support a growing economy.”
