“It is a bitter irony that, on the eve of July 4th, Congress passed a reconciliation bill that will sell out our energy independence and shackle Americans to volatile oil and gas prices. By abruptly ending clean energy tax credits that solar and wind developers are relying on, this bill will result in higher electricity costs and the loss of tens of thousands of jobs across New York State. Given the President’s claim to support American energy dominance, it is absurd to retreat from the fastest, cheapest energy available to power our economy.
“We thank House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for delivering nothing short of a clarion call for our time on the House floor this morning, along with his fellow Democrats in New York’s Congressional delegation who voted against this bill. While this is a major setback, it will not stop our progress. And it makes one thing abundantly clear: State leadership on climate and clean energy is more important than ever. New York has always led the way on environmental progress, and we won’t back down from advancing a healthier, cleaner future for all.”
