“NYLCV commends Mayor Mamdani, Speaker Julie Menin, and the City Council for delivering a FY27 NYC Budget that charts a path toward a healthier, more sustainable, and affordable future for New York City.
“Nearly $30 million for NYC Parks will mean more workers, better upkeep, and more robust management of our urban forest. After years of underinvestment, this funding is a step toward achieving the Mayor’s promise of allocating 1 percent of the City budget to our parks.
“Affordable public transit is one of the most effective ways to reduce emissions while lowering the cost of living, and the Fair Fares program will now extend half-price transit to approximately 340,000 additional New Yorkers. Now, we urge the city to increase the eligibility to 300 percent of the federal poverty level and expand discounts to the MTA Express Buses, CityTickets, LIRR and Metro-North to support even more residents.
“Other wins include capital investments to continue expanding our bus and bike lane infrastructure as well as ongoing funding for the NYC Accelerator Co-op and Condo Hub and the DEP’s Bureau of Coastal Resilience to protect our communities from the impacts of climate change.
“While this budget represents real progress, there is more work ahead – to ensure our parks and green spaces are world class, to implement the Urban Forest Plan, to invest in affordable clean energy for our communities, and to build resilient infrastructure.
