NYLCV Gives Green Endorsements

Be sure to review NYLCV Gives Green 125 endorsed candidates before you head to the polls. You can sort candidates by office or region.  Last year 92% of NYLCV-endorsed candidates were victorious.

Which ballot measures should I support?

There are six proposals on the ballot this year. Read more about each one, and arguments for and against, in this NYLCVEF blog post.

NYLCV urges all New Yorkers to vote yes on Proposals 1, and all New York City voters to vote yes on Proposals 1, 3 and 6.

Ballot Proposal 1 is an “Amendment to Allow Olympic Sports Complex In Essex County on State Forest Preserve Land.” NYLCV supports this measure because it would preserve the best of the Adirondacks without having to sacrifice the state’s Winter Olympic heritage and a major driver of economic activity. Prop 1 will protect wildlands while enabling the greater Lake Placid region to continue hosting world-class sporting events that draw athletes and visitors from around the world – the best-case scenario for both the human and natural communities of the Adirondacks.

NYLCV is one of several environmental advocacy groups are urging New York voters to approve Prop 1.

Ballot Proposal 3 (only in NYC) would “Simplify Review of Modest Housing and Infrastructure Projects.” NYLCV support this measure because it would help fast-track and increase the creation of both affordable housing and climate-resilient communities. For example, it would be easier to raise streets and buy out properties in flood-prone areas. Site selections for green space and solar energy would also be fast-tracked.

Ballot Proposal 6 (Only in NYC) would “Move Local Elections to Presidential Election Years to Increase Voter Participation.” NYLCV supports this measure because shifting the local election calendar to align with presidential election years should significantly increase voter turnout and increase representation among those who vote, so voters are more reflective of the city.

Read our blog detailing our support for each of these measures.
