Maria Moore
Maria Moore is running for re-election as the Town of Southampton Supervisor. Moore has a history of environmental advocacy and protecting water quality. During her term as Mayor of Westhampton Beach, Moore planned and obtained funding for the installation of a sewer treatment system for the Villages downtown, which reduced nitrogen loading in the bay by 27%. As Town Supervisor, she secured several million dollars of funding for Innovative Alternative septic systems, which were made available for residents through grants. Beyond this work, she is also a proponent of Southampton’s North Sea solar project, located on a capped landfill, which has provided over 500 residents with a 10% reduction in their electric bills. If re-elected, Moore will continue to support wastewater treatment initiatives with plans for the installation of a sewer treatment plant in Riverside to address water quality issues in the Peconic River watershed. She also plans to expand Southampton’s composting program, glass recycling infrastructure, and continue to install EV charging stations as part of the Clean Fleet Initiative.
