Gordon Gooding

Gordon Gooding is running for election to represent the Town of Shelter Island as Supervisor. Since selling his business in 2015, Gooding has spent most of his time improving Shelter Island, focusing on land preservation and water quality, and serving as the longtime chairman of the Town’s Community Preservation Fund Advisory Board. As a Town Councilmember, Gooding has prioritized upgrading the outdated septic system and promoting the use of SIP funding by homeowners since the Island relies on a sole source aquifer. He is a strong believer in the need to balance affordable housing with the need to preserve Shelter Island’s precious natural resources. He is also eager to implement more renewable energy sources. If elected, he will continue to dedicate himself to improving water quality, preserving land, and implementing a sustainable future for the residents of Shelter Island.
