Emiljana Ulaj

Emiljana Ulaj is seeking reelection to the Westchester County Board of Legislators, representing District 9. During her first full term in office, Legislator Ulaj has focused heavily on sustainability, transportation modernization, waste reduction, and environmental resiliency initiatives throughout Westchester County. She helped secure $25 million to replace Bee-Line buses with new hybrid and all-electric buses, $5 million toward the installation of 600 new EV charging stations countywide, and $1.3 million for the Food Scrap Recovery Program to support the study and development of a County-owned composting facility. Ulaj has also advocated for expanded waste diversion programs to reduce reliance on the Peekskill incinerator and introduced legislation requiring grocery stores to provide compostable produce and poultry bags rather than plastic bags. She continues to champion renewable energy expansion, green infrastructure investments, and stronger resiliency planning, including flood mitigation, stormwater modernization, and expanded public transit connectivity. Legislator Ulaj has additionally emphasized the importance of combating misinformation surrounding Battery Energy Storage Systems and advancing local solar development by reforming restrictive state laws. If reelected, Emiljana Ulaj will continue pursuing environmental and sustainability initiatives while expanding investments in clean transportation, water infrastructure, open space preservation, and climate resiliency across Westchester County.
