Ken Zalewski

Ken Zalewski is running for re-election as Rensselaer County Legislator, District 1. In his ten years serving on the Troy City Council, Zalewski drafted and sponsored numerous pieces of environmental legislation, including a resolution designating Troy as a Climate Smart Community. He also spearheaded the creation of the Troy Composting Workgroup, which was tasked with determining the feasibility of implementing a citywide composting program. The City initiated a pilot program for curbside composting as a result. On the Rensselaer County Legislature, Zalewski has sponsored and passed legislation to fund the massive Combined Sewer Overflow project which will help to prevent large amounts of sewage from being dumped into the Hudson River and helped implement a solar farm at the Troy landfill which produces almost half of the City’s energy.  If re-elected Zalewski will be committed to making Rensselaer county more resilient to the effects of climate change.
