David VanLuven
David VanLuven is running for re-election as the Supervisor of Town of Bethlehem. VanLuven has worked with nonprofits to advance biodiversity conservation and climate change initiatives. In his seven years of office as Town Supervisor, he began the transition to electric vehicles, completed a historic farmland conservation project that saved 307 acres from development, created one of the most sophisticated municipal composting facilities in New York, and completed an award-winning Comprehensive Plan Update that serves as an example of how municipalities can tackle climate change and sustainability. The plan sets goals such as transitioning away from fossil fuels and increasing energy efficiency. VanLuven has also led efforts to invest in sidewalk construction, a traffic safety campaign, and traffic calming measures; establish a street tree planting program to help cool neighborhoods; and create a Composting and Recycling Department to advance solid waste management goals. If re-elected David VanLuven will be fully committed to land conservation efforts and making Bethlehem a climate smart community.
