Location: Hybrid (based in Lower Manhattan, with statewide travel)

The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) and the NYLCV Education Fund (NYLCVEF)—organizations at the forefront of environmental advocacy across New York State. With a mission to engage, educate, and empower New Yorkers to become active environmental advocates, NYLCV/NYLCVEF leads initiatives in clean energy, clean transportation, clean water, zero waste, open spaces, and civic engagement. The Programs Manager will play a key role in shaping and executing the organizations’ public programs, community outreach, and educational events. This is a mission-driven team passionate about making a measurable impact on New York’s environment and public health.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Community & Civic Engagement, the Programs Manager is responsible for developing and executing statewide community engagement programs. The role includes leading NYLCVEF’s tabling and field organizing efforts, managing public education initiatives, and representing the organization in key coalitions. This role is ideal for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, has a background in organizing or event planning, and is passionate about environmental justice and public advocacy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead NYLCVEF’s statewide tabling and field organizing programs, including event booking, staffing, budgeting, and materials management.
  • Train and supervise seasonal organizers and field staff.
  • Coordinate educational tabling events aligned with policy priorities and advocacy campaigns.
  • Plan and execute public webinars, forums, and events like the “Lunch and Learn” series and the “What’s Brewin’” happy hour series.
  • Build and maintain partnerships across diverse community stakeholders and non-traditional allies.
  • Support engagement for campaigns including Play Fair (NYC parks advocacy), offshore wind, and zero waste initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Communications, Policy, and Development teams to align programs with strategic goals.
  • Track program metrics and report regularly to internal teams, boards, and partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in field organizing, event planning, or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of New York’s environmental landscape, environmental justice, and civic engagement is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience working with diverse communities.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, especially Google Sheets or Excel.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and across New York State, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Work Location:
Hybrid – NYLCV’s headquarters is in Lower Manhattan. Candidates must be based in New York and available for regular in-person work and statewide travel.

Work Hours/Schedule:
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Occasional evenings and weekends required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $60,000-$70,000 (commensurate with experience)
