Yanna Henriquez

Yanna Henriquez is running for NYC City Council District 21. As a longtime community advocate with the Dominico American Society, she has prioritized environmental justice for working-class communities hit hardest by pollution and climate change. Henriquez has led efforts to expand trash removal, recycling, and composting education—ensuring materials are available in residents’ native languages—and worked with the community board to crack down on illegal dumping. She supports workforce development programs that train local residents for jobs in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. Henriquez has also advocated for expanding green spaces, including the Metropolitan Park development and new community gardens in underserved areas. On the Council, she will fight for policies that protect air, water, and public health while making sure communities like District 21 benefit from the green economy.
