Public Beaches Closed In Evans

The Wendt and Bennett beaches in Evans, Erie County's only public beaches, have been closed Monday through Friday.

According to the Buffalo News, more than 200 people broke the rules one day this week and took to the two Evans beaches to swim and cool off.

Henslow's Sparrow Found In Lanchester Halts Construction

The Henslow's sparrow, a bird deemed threatened by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, has been found in Lancaster. Its presence has stopped a developer from moving forward with its plan for a major development in the area.

Buffalo Bridge Closed to Band Three Newborn Peregrine Falcon Chicks

According to The Buffalo News, the New York State Thruway Authority on Tuesday closed one lane on the Grand Island Bridge for two hours to help the Department of Environmental Conservation band three newborn peregrine falcon chicks.
