DiCarlo Opposes Shirley Housing Plan

Yesterday, in an effort to preserve some of Long Island's open space, Robert DiCarlo, the Republican candidate for Brookhaven supervisor, spoke openly against the construction of a new Shirley housing plan.

Caithness Development Legally Stalled

Riverhead -- State Supreme Court Judge Spinner ordered that the Brookhaven Town board did not follow legal procedure when deciding to move ahead with the Caithness project, a 350-megawatt planned commissioned by LIPA.

Brookhaven representatives plan to file a notice of appeal immediately.

CPF on the Ballot in Brookhaven

The battle between developers and conservationists in Brookhaven has come to a halt this week when the town board approved a Community Preservation Fund (CPF) proposal to be on the ballot this November.

If the initiative passes 5,000 acres of land will be preserved and an estimated $600 million will be generated for the county.
