Power Play in Rockland

As a follow-up to an item reported here last week, Mirant, the owner and operator of two power plants in Rockland county accused of violating a state permits that regulate discharge into the Hudson River, is looking to sell its local plants.

Phillips Turns the Screws on Mirant

Haverstraw Supervisor Howard Phillips is blowing the whistle on Mirant, the owner and operator of power plants in Haverstraw and Stony Point.

Phillips is calling for state action against the utility for not keeping track of its Hudson River water discharges, as required by Mirant's State Pollution Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit.
