Cuomo Files Suit To Clean Up Newtown Creek

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced that he is filing a lawsuit against major oil companies to clean up a massive oil spill that has contaminated Newtown Creek and the surrounding lands.

AG Andrew Cuomo wants General Electric to spend loads more to clean up Champlain Canal between Fort Edward and Waterford in the upper Hudson River. Once that part of the river is clean, commercial ships can once again use it.

Attorney General Extraordinaire

Andrew Cuomo, who is clearly taking his role as an enforcer of enviro laws seriously, has just created a new position in his office called Special Deputy Attorney General for Environmental Protection. He appointed Katherine Kennedy to the post. Kennedy is a long-time environmental advocate, and no doubt the best for the job.

Cuomo "Walks the Walk" On ExxonMobil

In his first major environmental legal maneuver as attorney general, Andrew Cuomo is suing ExxonMobil (and four other companies) to cleanup a major oil spill in Newton Creek in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
