This year we are excited to present an Environmental Lifetime Achievement Award to U.S. Representative Mike McNulty and a Corporate Pioneer Award to Price Chopper/The Golub Corporation. We also welcome New York State Deputy Secretary for the Environment Judith Enck as our Keynote Speaker.

We are also pleased to present 2008 "Greener Pastures" Awards to our former board members who have gone on to serve New York's environment through positions in state government: Parks Commissioner Carol Ash, DEC Regional Director Willie Janeway and DEC Associate Counsel David Sampson.

Education.

The 1st Annual Last Day at the Beach Recycling Awareness Benefit will take place on Wednesday,
October 3rd from 6-9pm.

  • Jerry Cosgrove, Deputy Commissioner of New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, for his commitment to farmland conservation and agricultural economic development; and
  • John Hedley for his efforts to change the face of downtown Troy through his many rehabilitation projects. His philosophy is "why go out in suburbia and take green space and put up new buildings when you could recycle the buildings that you have."

This year’s recipients of the Commitment to Westchester’s Environment award are the Ossining Public Library, who recently created a brand new, environmentally sound structure for their facility, and the Sheldrake Environmental Center, whose indefatigable efforts to campaign and educate on behalf of the environment have enriched the citizens, as well as the landscape of Westchester.
