Our Campaigns

NYLCV works to ensure that all elected officials are held accountable for their environmental actions.

In Albany, NYLCV participates in many coalitions to advance key legislative and budgetary priorities by issuing memorandum in support/opposition to bills and mobilizing members to take action. Additionally, NYLCV identifies and prioritizes several issues as top tier campaigns for the organization. For 2011-2012, NYLCV is focused on a bill to promote New York's solar industry and another bill to protect New York's farmland.

In New York City, we convene a "green group" of leading environmental, public health, transit and social justice organizations. Based on collective priorities of the green group, NYLCV issues a NYC Council scorecard.

NYLCV plays a prominent role in elections throughout the state, evaluating and endorsing candidates from all parties and at all levels of government. From city mayors to governor to the U.S. Senate, NYLCV conducts a comprehensive endorsement process, which includes a detailed policy questionnaire, external research and face-to-face interviews.

Through its political action committee, NYLCV PAC, NYLCV offers direct financial support and independent expenditures on behalf of candidates we have endorsed. The high rate of success among our funded candidates, in turn, advances a pro-environment agenda for New York.
