Environmental Issues Facing New York StateEven in these challenging economic times, New York State cannot afford to retreat from its environmental goals or endanger our water and air because of budget constraints. In fact, greater environmental sustainability is a building block for a revitalized New York. In NYLCV's 2012 State Policy Agenda, you can find specific policy recommendations to members of the New York State Assembly and Senate that will help improve the environment and the economy. Encompassing clean energy, sustainable development, mass transit and much more, the guide seeks to protect New York's water and air, while creating jobs and building better infrastructure throughout the state. This document will play an important role in NYLCV's endorsement process later in the year. Over the coming days and weeks, NYLCV will be meeting with state lawmakers to urge them to act on this sustainability agenda. When election season rolls around, we will ask candidates how much progress they made -- and make our endorsement decisions accordingly. NYLCV has also issued the following memoranda on critical legislative, budgetary and regulatory initiatives under consideration this session.
