Using a federal stimulus grant, Westchester County has just launched a program to provide up to 2,000 homeowners with professional energy audits for free, according to the Journal News [1].

The Home Energy Assessment Program [2] will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to residents who own houses of up to 4,000 square feet that are located within Westchester County. The homeowner must contact the 211 call center to schedule the audit.  Property owners will receive results immediately after the contractor's visit.

The program is a collaboration between Westchester County, the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Investment Board [3] and the Business Council of Westchester [4].

"This is a great example of people coming together...to put stimulus dollars to work for the benefit of homeowners as sell as people who have been displaced from their jobs," Lawrence Gottlieb, Westchester County director of economic development, said.
