As political commentators continue to discuss the signals that last week's election results will have on next year's elections, candidate-elects are focused on the here and now.
County Executive-Elect Rob AstorinoOne such person is Rob Astorino, who pulled out an unexpected victory over 12-year incumbent Andrew Spano in the Westchester county executive race. Astorino has announced the members of his transition team [1], with Kevin Plunkett as the committee chairman. Plunkett is a board member of NYLCV's Westchester Chapter [1] and an attorney with DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkehr LLP.
As Astorino and his team begin the transition process, Greg Clary's column [2] in the Journal News highlights the opportunity that Astorino has to continue the environmental accomplishments of his predecessor. Astorino has commented positively on Spano's land preservation successes, which include gaining public access to waters near Milton Harbor in Rye and protecting 654 acres in the Angle Fly Preserve in Somers. By continuing the efficiency improvements to the county's facilities and operations, the county can reap economic rewards and reduce its carbon footprint.
