NYLCV is active in regions across New York State at every level of government to push innovative environmental and energy policies that support strong climate action.

To learn more about our efforts in each region, select from the list below:

• Capital Region [0]: The counties of Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer face a number of environmental challenges, from smart growth and brownfield reuse, to funding for parks, open space and waterfronts. Currently, NYLCV is playing an active role in establishing cross-sector sustainability plans for the counties and individual communities in the region.
  
  
• Long Island [0]: This region has led the way in open space and farmland preservation, but traffic congestion and urban sprawl continue to present challenges. NYLCV's Long Island Chapter advocates for better sustainability policies on the local level while encouraging economic growth.
  
  
• New York City [0]: The NYLCV New York City Chapter will play a vital role in holding the current administration accountable for its commitment to PlaNYC 2030 in the coming months and years. The chapter will also work with the City Council on green policies and legislation.
  
  
• Westchester [0]: The county and its 45 municipalities are making headway in meeting the countywide goal of a 20 percent reduction in greenhouse gases by 2015, but more work needs to be done. NYLCV is advocating for leadership at the local level to achieve this goal while encouraging sustainable economic development.
  
  
• Central and Western NY [0]: NYLCV, with its strong presence in Central and Western New York, will work in the coming year to keep the region on track to becoming a state leader on climate action.
  
  
• Hudson Valley [0]: NYLCV will be taking advantage of our active base in the Hudson Valley to work with those leaders who have already put climate protection at the top of their policy agendas and to educate the public to pressure other leaders to do the same.
