Alice Kryzan has been an outstanding advocate for open space preservation, clean water, clean energy, and environmental justice in Western New York. She represented the Town of Clarence in its battle against the expansion of a hazardous waste facility. When the facility was later destroyed in a fire, she helped ensure that the site was cleaned up in an environmentally sound manner. With a proven track record -- and ambitious plans to transform the region into a center for "green-collar" jobs -- Kryzan is the right choice for the 26th Congressional District.

Body:

NEW YORK --- The New York League of Conservation Voters, the political voice for New York's environmental community, today announced its endorsement of Alice Kryzan for the 26th Congressional District, representing all or parts of Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming counties.

Over the course of an extensive legal career, Kryzan has demonstrated her dedication to environmental protection. For example, she represented the Town of Clarence in its battle against the expansion of a hazardous waste facility. When the facility was later destroyed in a fire, she helped ensure that the site was cleaned up in an environmentally sound manner. Currently, she has been working as a volunteer with a coalition of environmental groups helping them oppose the construction of a coal-fired power plant.

Kryzan's campaign is focused on protecting the environment while achieving economic goals. She hopes to transform Western New York into a center for "green-collar" jobs by encouraging the growth of the alternative energy industry in the region. She also plans to promote eco-tourism, both for the economic benefits and to advance wilderness preservation. In order to maintain a clean local water supply, she will increase funding for the protection of the Great Lakes and other waterways.

"Alice Kryzan has been an outstanding advocate for open space preservation, clean water, clean energy, and environmental justice in Western New York," said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. "We're proud to throw our full support behind her candidacy, and we strongly urge voters who care about New York's environment to make her the next Congress member from the 26th District."

In response to the endorsement, Alice Kryzan said: "Protecting our environment while improving our economy has been the centerpiece of my campaign from the start. This endorsement by one of the most significant environmental groups in the state, along with that of prominent local environmentalists earlier this week, confirms that I am the candidate with the experience, passion and judgment to help Western New York realize its energy and environmental future."
