The Schenectady County LegislatureSchenectady County [1] has announced its plan to improve energy conservation and efficiency among county government operations.

According to the Albany Times-Union [2], the county will give preference to Energy Star products, pursue green building policies and have the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority [3] conduct an energy audit to identify other carbon saving opportunities.

"I've seen that these initiatives bring a stronger community and a stronger economy," NYSERDA President Paul Tonko said at an event to announce Schenectady County's plan.
