It could be Monday before the Assembly takes up the issue of congestion pricing, according to the Daily News [1].
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver's comment came during an interview with the New York Post's Fred Dicker on his WCBI (AM) [2] Talk 1300 radio show. Speaker Silver also said the final internal conference discussion would take place by Monday on the issue.
On Monday, the New York City Council [3] approved a home rule request urging state lawmakers to vote in favor of congestion pricing legislation. The home rule request, which passed the Council 30-20, was sent to Albany for consideration prior to votes in the Legislature.
"This is a tough decision. This is a bold decision ... which will send a message to the state Legislature that we are sick and tired of our streets being clogged with traffic," Council Speaker Christine Quinn said after the vote.
