The Rensselaer County Legislature [1] has breathed new life into the Environmental Management Council, approving 15 new members to the volunteer body.

According to the Albany Times Union [2], the EMC [3] will advise the Legislature on environmental matters, and serve as a sounding board for new proposals and technologies.
Legislature Chairman Neil J. Kelleher, R-Troy, said the EMC has been instrumental in the establishment of several important environmental projects, including the founding of the Papscanee Island Nature Preserve, the Adopt-A-Highway program and county recycling.
