The Broadwater [1] liquefied natural gas terminal planned for Long Island Sound would reduce energy prices for consumers and add a long-term energy source.
That's according to Broadwater officials, who told the Long Island Regional Planning Board [2] at a meeting Tuesday that consumers could expect to save $300 a year. The meeting was covered by the Long Island Business News [3].
Regional Planning Board members said they are keeping an open mind about the project, but would like more information about the cost savings. The board has not taken a position on the proposal.
Later this month, Gov. Eliot Spitzer [4]'s administration is expected to make a key decision on whether the Broadwater should proceed.
