After lots of legal wrangling between the state and Amtrak, the New York Sun [1] is reporting that plans for a high-speed rail from Albany to NYC are on the right track.

As a result of the settlement, the project dubbed the "Turboliner" will receive a $10 million boost from both parties to improve infrastructure. Amtrak will also kick in $6 million for improvements around the George Washington Bridge, which slows train speed down to 15 miles an hour as opposed to normal track speed of 60 miles an hour.

This project, overseen by the New York State Senate High-Speed Rail Task Force [2], is part of an overall Action Program [3] that seeks better equipment and additional capacity to reduce travel times between New York City, Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls (see below).
