According to the Journal News [1] , the Coast Guard and the rest of Long Island continue to be baffled at the gobs of oil that washed up on the beaches late last week. The Coast Guard has managed to clean up almost 75% of the estimated 500 gallons of oil spilled so far and is still collecting oil samples from ships within the area.
