Freight Delivery

Teaser:

Background:
Truck Traffic JamTruck Traffic JamThe New York City region handles an estimated $1.4 trillion worth of freight annually and approximately 80% of this is transported by truck, a far greater proportion than in other major American cities. The contribution of trucks to highway congestion is rising and this congestion is damaging our roads, producing excessive air pollution and taking a heavy toll on the quality of life for drivers as well as for residents in neighborhoods that experience heavy truck traffic. In order to reduce this traffic we must improve the cross-Hudson and East-of Hudson rail freight system.
Solution:
Continue to invest in freight-rail improvements including a cross-Hudson rail link and better freight rail infrastructure in the East-of-Hudson region.
