Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion and Bronx Council members, Assembly Member Jose Rivera, Members of the Bronx and Upper Manhattan Assembly Delegations stood side by side with Mayor Michael Bloomberg today in endorsing PlaNYC.
Standing in front of the 1930s Bronx courthouse that has been retrofitted with a "green" roof, the group of politicians was backed by delegates of more than 140 organizations that endorse the sustainability plan.
"PlaNYC will benefit people in the Bronx and throughout our City and the entire region. Working with our Department of Citywide Administrative Services, the Borough President has already installed a green roof here at the courthouse, which is an example of the type of conservation measures that our plan envisions," Bloomberg said.
"PlaNYC is good for my constituents and all New Yorkers and I'm proud to stand with my fellow Bronx Assembly Members and the Mayor today to support it," Assemblyman Rivera said.
"From reducing traffic and asthma-inducing pollution and improving public transportation options throughout the five boroughs, the mayor's plan will put New York City on a path to an even greener and greater future," Borough President Carrion said.
