Kirsten Gillibrand delivering keynote address
On Monday, April 16, the NYLCV Capital District Chapter Board hosted their annual Eco-Breakfast, From the City to the Country: Smart Growth in the Capital Region, at the Fort Orange Club in Albany. Over 100 guests including state and local elected officials, environmentalists, and developers attended the event.
This year, the Capital District Board honored Jerry Cosgrove, Deputy Commissioner of New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, for his commitment to farmland conservation and agricultural economic development; Galesi Group for their innovative vision in creating the brownfield redevelopment project College Park in Schenectady; and John Hedley for his efforts to change the face of downtown Troy through his many rehabilitation projects.
Tom DiNapoli welcomes the audience
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli gave the opening remarks and applauded NYLCV for its work. Congressman Mike McNulty (21st CD) introduced his colleague and keynote speaker, U.S. Representative Kirsten Gillibrand (20th CD) who addressed several key environmental issues including the smart growth initiative and legislation to help New York’s dairy farmers.
