A clean-energy and environmental leader
for Staten Island & Brooklyn
NEW YORK -- The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make the environment a top political priority in New York, has endorsed Mark Murphy for Congress in the 11th District. NYLCV made its announcement in conjunction with LCV Action Fund.
Mark Murphy"The lack of progress on clean energy and the environment in Congress is truly breathtaking," said New York League president Marcia Bystryn. "More than ever, we need leaders in Washington who are committed to a greener, healthier future and transitioning to a 21st century sustainable economy. That's why we are proud to support Mark Murphy for Congress. He's the right choice for Staten Island and Brooklyn."
"LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Mark Murphy for Congress because he'll fight to invest in a clean energy economy that creates sustainable jobs on Staten Island and Brooklyn," added Gene Karpinski, president of the LCV Action Fund. "Mark Murphy will defend essential public health standards and hold corporate polluters accountable. We look forward to working with Murphy to build a cleaner, safer and more secure future for the people of Staten Island and Brooklyn."
In response to the endorsements, Murphy said: "I'm thrilled to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters. They understand that Congress isn't getting the job done when it comes to investments in clean, renewable energy sources. We need to pass on a clean, safe planet to the next generation, and that means ending tax breaks for oil companies that are making record profits and investing it in new technologies that will protect our environment, create good-paying jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign energy."
