NEW YORK - New York's leading environmental organizations are applauding Assembly Member Robert Sweeney (D/11th District) for his efforts to safeguard Long Island's natural heritage, protect clean air and water, and create a clean-energy economy.

Assembly Member Robert SweeneyAssembly Member Robert SweeneyThe Sierra Club, Long Island Environmental Voters Forum and the New York League of Conservation Voters have all endorsed Assembly Member Sweeney in the upcoming election, pointing to his impressive list of achievements, including leadership on the issues of climate change, green jobs and the protection of dwindling open space. As chair of the Environmental Conservation Committee, Assembly Member Sweeney plays a major role in setting environmental policy for the entire state.

Assembly Member Sweeney also earned a score of 90 in the 2010 EPL/Environmental Advocates Voters' Guide - the highest score in the Assembly. EPL honored Assembly Member Sweeney as one of two "Legislators of the Year" for 2010. Legislator of the Year honors are awarded to the public figures that have done the most to advance environmentally beneficial policy.
