Staten Island native brings wealth
of government and political experience to NYLCV

NEW YORK - The New York League of Conservation Voters, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that advocates for pro-environment laws and leaders across New York State, has named Jon R. Del Giorno chair of its New York City Chapter. The chapter - one of four NYLCV maintains - plays a pivotal role in the five boroughs by advocating for sustainability policies and electing pro-environment leaders to local, state and federal office.

Jon R. Del GiornoJon R. Del Giorno "On behalf of the board of the New York League of Conservation Voters, I am delighted to welcome Jon Del Giorno as our New York City Chapter chair," said NYLCV Chair Bob Hallman. "Our mission this year is to rebuild environmental leadership in Albany, and I know that Jon's experience in government and politics will be a tremendous asset in our New York City campaigns."

A longtime NYLCV supporter, Del Giorno is a founding partner of Pitta Bishop Del Giorno & Giblin LLC, where he manages the firm's New York City consulting and government relations practice. Prior to founding the firm, he earned his stripes in New York City and Staten Island politics, including important work for several City Council members and a Borough President. He was also a senior official at the New York City Board of Elections for 15 years.

"After having served as a member of the New York City Chapter, I am humbled to have been named as the new chairman. I applaud the great strides the chapter has made under the leadership of my dear friend and colleague Ken Fisher," Del Giorno said. "As chair, I will make every effort to continue the successes that the chapter has made in expanding its grassroots efforts throughout the communities of the five boroughs and in educating our elected and government officials about its agenda. As New York City's population continues to expand and its skyline continues to change, we can ensure that our environment is protected, while also advocating for quality- of-life issues, such as waterfront access, the development of neighborhood parks, the smart use of open and available space, the cleanup of polluted sites and greater use of mass transit."

Del Giorno succeeds Kenneth K. Fisher, who stepped down to pursue other opportunities, as the new chapter chair.
