Proven track record for the environment

NEW YORK – The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top policy and political priority in New York, today applauded the appointment of Caswell F. Holloway as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

NYLCV has worked closely with Holloway on some of New York City’s most complicated environmental challenges, from the overhaul of the Solid Waste Management Plan to the cleanup of polluted waterways. His results-oriented approach will benefit the Department of Environmental Protection, which is currently undertaking some of the largest and most expensive capital projects in its history.

“The Department of Environmental Protection plays a critical role in delivering safe drinking water to more than eight million people and by protecting our upstate watershed and local waterways from pollution,” said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “DEP needs a results-oriented leader to guide the department during this pivotal time, and we applaud Mayor Bloomberg’s appointment of Cas Halloway to get the job done.”
