Newly elected officials
must not backslide on clean energy, climate action

NEW YORK --- From the North Country to Long Island's East End, voters emphatically embraced change. They crossed party lines to express their concerns over the economy and jobs. The take-away messages are that long-time incumbents are not safe and voters are frustrated -- sentiments that will no doubt carry into the state elections next year.

NYLCV is proud to have played a role in electing many of last night's victors (see below for the complete of our endorsed winners). In the races where our incumbent champions were not victorious, time will tell whether the newly elected officials build upon the real progress made on climate change and continue to lead us toward a cleaner-energy economy.

One thing is for sure: NYLCV will be there, advocating on the front lines in local communities across the state, and working with faces old and new to make sure New York State continues on the path to a more sustainable future.
