Extensive record of environmental leadership

NEW YORK --- The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, has endorsed Joanne Dittes Yepsen for re-election to the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors.

Joanne YepsenJoanne YepsenSupervisor Yepsen has an extensive track record of environmental leadership. She helped found Sustainable Saratoga with the support of concerned citizens and organizations. She worked toward the creation of and unanimous approval of the Saratoga County Green Infrastructure Plan. She also worked on teams with other legislators, City Council, County Board colleagues, State Parks personnel and local businesses to create public-private partnerships for trail development. In her third term, Yepsen plans to advance Saratoga's ten-year sustainability plan and work toward changing policies and ordinances to marry economic development with preservation.

"Saratoga County needs elected leaders who can meet today's environmental challenges and lay the foundation for a cleaner, greener future," said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. "Supervisor Yepsen has been a tremendous force for environmental progress, and that's why we urge anyone interested in clean air, clean water and a more sustainable future to re-elect her to the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors."

In response to the endorsement, Supervisor Yepsen said: "I am extremely honored to be endorsed again by the NYLCV.  My constituents are clearly asking for more attention to be paid toward our future, our health and maintaining our quality of life. That is why I founded Sustainable Saratoga, advocate for municipal and county planning to incorporate Complete Street concepts, and continue to focus on implementing the Cool City campaign in Saratoga Springs.  Our local progress will only be strengthened by partnering with the League.  I am truly grateful for their support."
