Organizations leading the way
toward a more sustainable Long Island
Former U.S. Rep. Rick Lazio and Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi were our special guests.
NEW YORK - Dozens of Long Island elected officials, business leaders and environmentalists turned out for the New York League of Conservation Voters' Champions for a Greener Nassau Cocktail Party, which was held on Oct. 1 at Bethpage State Park.
NYLCV honored three outstanding local organizations for their efforts to promote sustainability in the region. Based in Port Washington, Pall Corporation is a filtration, separation and purification leader providing fluid management solutions to meet the critical needs of customers in biopharmaceutical, hospital and transfusion medicine, energy and alternative energy, electronics, municipal and industrial water, aerospace, transportation and broad industrial markets.
RXR Glen Isle Partners is developing a waterfront revitalization project in Glen Cove that will offer a mix of uses to include residential, hotel, retail, cultural, commercial, entertainment, recreational and maritime components.

Finally, the Long Island Regional Planning Council was established to represent the various interests and needs of all Long Islanders in providing education, research, planning, advocacy and leadership on important issues affecting the physical, economic and social health, and overall quality of life, of the region and its residents.
Thank you to all of our honorees, special guests and attendees, who made the Champions for a Greener Nassau Cocktail Party a night to remember.

The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) was founded in 1989 as a nonpartisan, policy-making and political action organization that works to make environmental protection a top priority with elected officials, decision makers, and voters by evaluating incumbent performance and endorsing and electing environmental leaders to office in New York State.
NYLCV's Long Island Chapter helps elect pro-environment candidates to local, state and federal offices and educates the public regarding key environmental initiatives. This region has led the way in open space and farmland preservation, and the chapter is an advocate for better sustainability practices on the local level while encouraging economic growth.
