Congressman-elect Murphy is to be sworn in on April 29.

NYLCV endorsed Murphy in March, citing his advocacy for an alternative, renewable energy through tax incentives and well-paying green-collar jobs. Throughout the campaign, Murphy also pledged to improve mass transit in the region and make the protection of New York's public lands a top priority, both to help the environment and grow the tourism industry.

"During this time of economic challenge, Scott Murphy understands that sustainability is a way forward for the 20th District," said Marcia Bystryn, NYLCV's president. "We look forward to working with Congressman Murphy and laying the foundation for a more sustainable future for the Hudson Valley and Capital Region."

The 20th Congressional District, representing all or parts of Dutchess, Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Warren, Washington and Essex counties.
