Congressman-elect Murphy is to be sworn in on April 29. NYLCV endorsed Murphy in March, citing his advocacy for an alternative, renewable energy through tax incentives and well-paying green-collar jobs. Throughout the campaign, Murphy also pledged to improve mass transit in the region and make the protection of New York's public lands a top priority, both to help the environment and grow the tourism industry. "During this time of economic challenge, Scott Murphy understands that sustainability is a way forward for the 20th District," said Marcia Bystryn, NYLCV's president.
