To address these sustainability challenges, the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund - a nonpartisan organization that engages and educates New Yorkers on local environmental issues - has released its 2009 East End Agenda, which is available on our Web site by clicking here.
The agenda lays out a comprehensive roadmap for policymakers in the East End's five towns and 40 incorporated villages and hamlets, to help them chart out policies on sustainable agriculture, energy efficiency, aquifer protection and more.
"The East End's impressive natural heritage and patterns of economic development present challenges that place this unique community at the forefront of the newest wave of the environmental movement," said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. "The New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund presents this agenda as a first step toward developing a comprehensive, regionwide sustainability plan that engages policymakers at every level of government."
