Winners Advance to Battle for Environment in November

NEW YORK --- The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) is celebrating the success of its "green" slate of candidates in the Sept. 9, 2008 Primary Election.

"Tonight's Primary results affirm that voters are looking to elect leaders that will solve the environmental challenges we face as a state and nation," said Marcia Bystryn, President of NYLCV.

"With energy and mass transit funding as top concerns, we look forward to electing a pro-environment majority of Democrats and Republicans committed to tackling these tough issues." 

NYLCV will release its full-slate of endorsed candidates for the General Election in a few weeks.

The following candidates won their Primary and will go on to the November 4th Election:

U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Alice Kryzan, 26th District
(Genesee, Livingston, Wyoming, Niagara, Orleans, Erie and Monroe counties)

Michael McMahon, 13th District
(Richmond and Kings counties)

Paul Tonko, 21st District
(Albany, Montgomery, Schenectady, Schoharie, Fulton, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties)

STATE SENATE

Joseph Addabbo, 15th District (Queens County)

Neil Breslin, 46th District (Albany County)

Toby Stavisky, 16th District (Queens County)

Antoine Thompson, 60th District (Niagara and Erie counties)

STATE ASSEMBLY

Sam Hoyt, 144th District (Erie County)

Ellen Jaffee, 95th District (Rockland County)

Jonathan Smith, 102nd District (Dutchess County)
