An outstanding advocate for
Rockland County's environment

NEW YORK --- The New York League of Conservation Voters, the political voice for New York’s environmental community, today announced its endorsement of Assembly Member Ellen Jaffee for re-election in the 95th Assembly District in Rockland County.

Assembly Member Ellen JaffeeAssembly Member Ellen JaffeeAs a member of the Assembly since 2006, and a Rockland County Legislator and Suffern Village trustee for over 10 years previously, Ellen Jaffee has dedicated a great deal of her public service to environmental protection. She authored a law requiring well-water testing in residential housing and sponsored legislation to comprehensively assess Rockland County’s water supply. She has established an air quality advisory board, negotiated an agreement to cut train idling at the Spring Valley rail yard – while ardently supporting mass transportation – and fought a utility company’s arbitrary tree-cutting policy so that natural areas will remain for everyone to enjoy.

“In her first term in the Assembly, Ellen Jaffee has been an outstanding advocate for clean water and air, intelligent planning to meet our transportation and energy needs, and creative solutions for Rockland County,” said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “We strongly urge voters who care about clean air, clean water and solutions to New York’s energy challenges to re-elect Ellen Jaffee to a second term.”

In response to the endorsement, Ellen Jaffee said: “I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the New York League of Conservation Voters, and I've been a proud advocate for the environment for my entire career in public service. I will fight as hard in my second term as I did in my first to protect our natural resources and continue to focus on water conservation and renewable energy.”
