Get Your Green On: Dollars For Enviro Candidates

Source: Huffington Post
Publication Date: March 25, 2008

Look here. It's an election year, you know, so how about getting your green on while you're putting on that red-white-and-blue top hat and your favorite candidate's button?

Last year, Laurie David and Gene Karpinski of the League of Conservation Voters wrote here on the Huffington Post about how global warming has not received the attention it deserves from the media during the election season.

So the League of Conservation Voters launched a campaign WhatAreTheyWaitingfor.com, also referenced on the HuffingtonPost by Ben Jervey, to petition the media to start prioritizing global warming on the campaign trail.

Now the New York chapter of the League of Conservation Voters is continuing the charge to make global warming a campaign priority for candidates.

NYLCV has just launched Climate Action PAC and a new website to address global warming by demanding action in Albany.

Climate Action PAC will offer direct financial support and independent campaign expenditures to help elect individuals who have demonstrated their passion and ability to advance strategies to aggressively tackle climate change. Climate Action PAC will target state legislative seats in 2008 and local races throughout the state -- including New York City -- in 2009.

Global warming is not just a top election issue. It goes far beyond politics...but we've got to elect and support real leaders on the most important issue of our time. Climate Action PAC is one of the first organizations in the nation with the specific goal of putting money behind candidates that will stand up and fight global warming.

So, get your green on and visit www.WhatIsNewYorkWaitingFor.com to learn more about Climate Action PAC, sign-up and demand action today.
