Rockaway representatives Gregory Meeks and Anthony Weiner earned high scores on the New York League of Conservation Voters' environmental scorecard for their work on issues concerning the environment.

Both Meeks and Weiner scored a grade of 90.

The NYLCV is a nonpartisan organization that strives to make environmental protection a top priority for elected officials.

The group produces this annual scorecard to follow the efforts and progress made by politicians to protect the future of the environment.

Some of the issues highlighted by the scorecard include increased environmental funding for national parks and wildlife refuges, and the passage of the Energy Independence and Security Act, which raises the overall fuel economy for cars to 35 miles per gallon.
