NYLCV Endorsements For Capital District, Long Island And Westchester County
As the general election approaches on Nov. 6, the League has endorsed 42 candidates running for county Legislature, county executive, mayor and town supervisor. They hail from Long Island all the way to the Capital District, vying for seats in Albany, Rensselear, Saratoga, Schenectady, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Among the mayoral endorsements are Mayor Harry Tutuntian, who is seeking re-election in Troy; Mayor John McDonald, who is seeking another term in Cohoes; Mayor Noam Bramson in New Rochelle; Mayor Brian Stratton in Schenectady and Mayor Phil Amicone in Yonkers (click here for a detailed profile on the last two endorsees). Tutunjian is proposing a forward-thinking environmental agenda that includes more green buildings, emissions reduction and smart growth. In his eco-plans, Bramson is envisioning energy-efficiency and greater use of mass transit. McDonald's green plan focuses on better wastewater management, open space and waterfront access.
For Albany County Legislature, we endorse: William Aylward Jr. , Alexander "Sandy" Gordon and Herbert Reilly Jr. For Suffolk County Legislature, we endorse: Kate Browning, Louis D'Amaro, Jack Eddington, John Kennedy Jr., Lynne Nowick, Edward Romaine and Steven Stern. For Nassau County Legislature, we endorse: Francis Becker, Norma Gonsalves, Judy Jacobs, Edward Mangano, Dave Mejias, Richard Nicolello, Peter Schmitt, Jeffrey Toback and Wayne Wink. For Westchester County Legislature, we endorse: Tom Abinanti, Judy Myers and Martin Rogowsky.
