A Closer Look At Al Gore's $300M Ad Blitz On Climate ChangeSubmitted by Sergio Hernandez on Wed, 2008-04-02 17:28.
According to Cathy Zoi, head of the nonprofit Alliance For Climate Protection, the ad campaign seeks to replicate the marketing success of the "Your Brain On Drugs" ad from the 1970s, which featured the image of a frying egg. According to USA Today, the campaign will also equate the climate-change movement with other grand historic endeavors, like stopping fascism in Europe during World War II, overcoming segregation in the United States and putting the first man on the moon. Some advertisements will feature bipartisan pairs, such as the Rev. Al Sharpton with Pat Robertson and Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with former GOP Speaker Newt Gingrich. The ads began running this week on www.wecansolveit.org. |
