7:30pm - 9:00pm The Sierra Club chapter in Syracuse, NY is hosting a presentation by Chris Fowler, president of Syracuse First, an organization that supports localized economies in the Western New York region. The talk will focus on the ability for communities to retain money spent at stores. A glaring example comes from the food industry, where $100 of locally bought food retains $73 in the local economy, whereas supermarkets keep only $43 out of every $100 in the area. The event will be held at the University Methodist Church, 1085 E. Genesee St. in Syracuse. Parking is available on University Ave. The event is free and open to everyone interested.
