At this NYSBA CLE on the Planning, Drafting & Administration of Conservation Easements, attendees will learn about the role and benefits of conservation easements and the public policy considerations surrounding their use:

• How to plan and close a conservation easement transaction.
• How to draft a conservation easement to avoid administrative and enforcement problems.
• How easements are monitored and enforced and how to plan for issues that may arise in the future.
• When amendments are appropriate and how to handle them.
• For protected open space in a residential subdivision, how to draft a conservation easement that meets the needs of the land trust, the municipality and the developer.
• How to achieve significant tax benefits without running afoul of the IRS.
• How to identify and navigate ethical issues in conservation easement transactions.
