Larchmont-Mamaroneck Sustainability Expo

Event Date: 04/24/2010
9:30am - 9:30am

Have you wondered about whether solar panels would really save you money?  Do the numbers on the bottom of your plastic recyclable bottles still confuse you? Have you always wanted to compost your food scraps but don't know how to get started?

Find the answers to these and other questions about green living at the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Sustainability Expo, to be held Saturday, April 24th at the Hommocks Middle School, 1000 Palmer Avenue in Larchmont.

The one-day event will feature expert-led educational sessions, dozens of "green" vendors and provide access to a range of public resources designed to improve the sustainability of our community.

The expo will feature the following:

  • Flexible programming: Morning and afternoon educational workshop sessions, run by experts and open to the public on a first come, first served basis.
  • Keynote address: Patti Wood, Founder of How Green is Your Town, will reveal how our community stacks up in terms of environmentally-friendly activity and outreach.
  • Compost Corner: Visitors can learn how to compost and purchase low-cost compost bins and rain barrels. Sales will begin in the parking lot at 8:30 AM.  Compost Bins and Rain barrels can also be pre-ordered through the expo registration site.
  • "Ask the Environmentalist" Booth, where questions such as "How do I recycle my batteries?" or "What plastics can I use in the microwave?" can be answered.
  • Green vendors:  Participants will also be able to browse more than 70 vendors and organizations in the school gymnasium throughout the day, offering attendees access to products, services and advice on a wide range of sustainable and energy-efficient products and services.
Cost of attendance for adults will be $15 in advance (reserve by April 21) and $20 at the door.  School-aged children can attend free of charge. To register in advance, visit www.larchmamkEXPO.org. For information on becoming a vendor or exhibitor, contact info@larchmamkEXPO.org.
