Green Visioning in Western Queens
Event Date: 03/27/2010
9:30am - 4:00pm Location: Greater Astoria Historical Society, Quinn Building, 4th Floor, 35-20 Broadway, Long Island City (Broadway & 36th Street) What environmental projects do you want in your neighborhood? Two day-long visioning sessions will give residents of Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside and Long Island City a chance to answer this question for themselves. Residents' answers will guide plans to invest $7.9 in tree-planting and other community environmental projects over the next three years. This unusual opportunity is the result of a settlement between community groups and Con Edison after the 2006 power outage. The visioning sessions will include panel discussions, moderated breakout sessions and priority-setting activities. Both sessions are free and include breakfast and lunch. Language interpreters and childcare will be provided upon request. (Please make requests by Friday, March 12) Interested residents should RSVP to info@northstarfund.org or 212-620-9110. The visioning sessions will be facilitated by North Star Fund (www.northstarfund.org), the foundation selected to administer the $7.9 million fund.
